Japanese Vintage Rare Silk Thread / Silk and Gold Leaf Flat / Embroidery Weaving 19544

This silk thread is extremely rare.

It is made from high-quality silk thread wrapped with a flat metallic thread made from fine pure silver foil colored gold. The gold-colored flat foil thread is wrapped around the silk thread with irregular spacing, rather than being wound continuously or at regular intervals. This creates a distinctive pattern in which the beautiful blue silk remains visible between the metallic sections.

This silk thread was made in Kyoto's Nishijin textile district and was originally intended for traditional Japanese weaving. However, I believe it would also be beautiful for knitting, crochet, embroidery, and many other creative projects.
