This silk bolt is a traditional Japanese fabric intended for making a nagajuban (kimono undergarment).
This piece was produced during the Taisho era to the early Showa era, approximately 100 years ago, making it a rare and historically significant textile.
The fabric is made of Mon Kinsha silk, a finely woven figured silk known for its exceptionally soft texture and elegant drape. It feels wonderfully smooth and luxurious to the touch.
The design features beautiful floral motifs, including tachibana (wild citrus blossoms), created using a combination of hand-shibori (hand tie-dyeing) and dyeing techniques. The craftsmanship is delicate and highly decorative.
There are a few small, faint stains in the pink areas of the fabric. However, considering its age, the overall condition is exceptionally good and it has been very well preserved.
