Karaori is known for its rich, decorative appearance, created using colorful silk threads along with gold and silver threads. A distinctive feature is its use of the "floating weave" technique, which produces raised, embroidery-like patterns directly into the fabric, giving it a three-dimensional and luxurious texture.

As one of the most prestigious forms of Japanese weaving, karaori remains a celebrated part of Japan’s cultural heritage, maintained by highly skilled artisans and sometimes even designated Living National Treasures.
