This is an authentic antique juban (kimono undergarment) dating from the Taisho period (1912–1926).
The fabric is Kinsha silk, known for its exceptionally soft, smooth texture and gentle drape. The vibrant red ground is beautifully decorated with elegant cranes, a traditional Japanese motif symbolizing longevity and good fortune.
Condition:
There are some stains on the collar, but these can be completely hidden by attaching a haneri (removable collar).
The overall condition is very good for its age.
There is minor looseness in the stitching at the underarm and hem.
The hem has a small area of wear measuring approximately 2–3 cm, which is not visible when worn and does not affect wearability.
Considering its age, this piece is in remarkably good condition, making it a rare and valuable example of Taisho-era craftsmanship.
Perfect for collectors of antique kimono, traditional Japanese textiles, or those seeking a unique and historically significant garment.
