This exquisite koto cover (koto kake) was made during the Taisho to early Showa period (approximately the 1910s–1930s).
The magnificent peacock design is beautifully created using a combination of hand-painted Yuzen dyeing and exquisite Japanese hand embroidery, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of traditional Japanese artisans. The elegant pine tree in the background further enhances the beauty and symbolizes longevity and good fortune.
Authentic antique koto covers are rarely found today, and examples of this exceptional quality and artistry are extremely rare and highly collectible.
There are a few small, faint stains consistent with age. However, considering its age, the overall condition is excellent, with the artwork and embroidery remaining beautifully preserved.
