The base of this fukuro obi features a decorative technique known as *suridashi-haku* (rubbed foil). Over this, elegant motifs such as plum branches are woven into the design.
It appears to have been used only once or twice, and the condition is excellent, with no visible stains or damage.
**Suri-haku (rubbed-out foil)** is a traditional Japanese decorative technique used in textiles.
A layer of metal leaf (such as gold or silver foil) is first applied to the fabric using an adhesive. Then, through a rubbing or pressing process, the foil is partially transferred or revealed to create subtle, textured patterns.
This method produces a soft, refined metallic effect, rather than a bold or solid shine, and is often used to add depth and elegance to kimono fabrics and obi.
