This silk bolt is a traditional Japanese fabric intended for making a kimono.
This piece was produced during the Taisho era to the early Showa era, approximately 100 years ago, making it a rare and historically significant textile.
The fabric is made of Mon Rinzu silk, a figured damask silk known for its smooth texture, subtle woven patterns, and elegant sheen. It is exceptionally soft and has a luxurious feel to the touch.
The design was created using dyeing techniques and features beautiful traditional motifs, including folding fans, flowing water, a bridge, and seasonal flowers and plants. These classic Japanese motifs create a refined and graceful composition.
There are a few small, faint stains on the fabric. However, considering its age, the overall condition is exceptionally good and it has been very well preserved.
