This silk bolt is a traditional Japanese fabric intended for making a furisode or a kimono with a matching hiyoku-style hakkake lining. It is approximately 4 meters longer than a standard kimono fabric bolt to accommodate the additional lining fabric.
This piece was produced during the Taisho era to the early Showa era, approximately 100 years ago, making it a rare and historically significant textile.
Antique kimono fabric bolts are rarely found today, making them highly collectible. A bolt with such a beautiful and elaborate design is especially rare and highly desirable among collectors and textile enthusiasts.
The fabric is made of Kinsha silk, a fine crepe silk known for its exceptionally soft texture and elegant drape. It feels wonderfully smooth and luxurious to the touch.
The design was created using traditional dyeing techniques and features magnificent seasonal flowers rendered in a rich and decorative style. The artistry and craftsmanship are truly remarkable.
There are a few small, faint stains on the fabric. However, considering its age, the overall condition is exceptionally good and it has been very well preserved.
